Psychotherapy & Yoga: An integrated Approach

The integration of Psychotherapy’s subjective relational dialogue, and the somatic practices of breath and movement in yoga, provide a potent approach for self-exploration. I have dedicated my life to these two approaches, and they have come to coexist within me. Together, they have helped me to meet some of life’s foundational questions, Who am I, What am I, and Why am I. They continue to support me in living in a rich, deeply connected, and meaningful way.

 Two-week intensive program

This program draws on Psychotherapy’s dialogue-based reflection, and Yoga’s somatic practices of breath and movement, to facilitate deep self-exploration. Psychotherapy and Yoga are modes of contemplation that promote connection, meaning, and a vividly experienced life. This program creates the space for your natural tendency towards growth to move and your potential to unfold.

The details of the approach  will be tailored to your individual situation and subjective experience but we will work within the frames of Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga to invite contact with our embodied wisdom and contemplate the deepest parts of ourselves.

Psychotherapy: Person-Centred

This approach to therapy is part of the relational humanistic tradition. It is based on a non-judgemental relationship that allows for radical openness. It involves robust dialogue-based exploration of the content that you bring to sessions. Your subjective experience will be our main reference point. Greater self-understanding, changes in behaviour, new ways of coping, and improved well-being often follow from the process.

Yoga: Ashtanga Vinyasa & Sitting Mediation

We will work with breath, movement, and stillness to explore the parts of our experience that cannot be reached by words and concepts. We will invite contact with our embodied wisdom and contemplate the deepest parts of ourselves.

The traditional method of teaching Ashtanga will be used. Participants will practice together in the same room, but at their own pace, with one-on-one guidance as needed. The result is an individually tailored yoga practice to serve you. In this way you will build the confidence for self-practice at home or to join a Mysore style class.

Mediation will not be based in a particular tradition. You will be supported to sit and hold space for all that you are.
